Hezekiah – the haemophilia hound dog
Written by Sam Wilson, October 6, 2025
What has the Haemophilia Society got to do with a giant cuddly dog which was once part of Elvis Presley’s Las Vegas show and has just featured on the BBC’s Repair Shop?
It’s a long story, but we’ll give it a go. Better still, come to our Big Get-Together conference on 22 November and find out for yourself, because Hezekiah, a 7ft 6in hound dog which stood outside the Las Vegas Hilton during Elvis’ residency in the 1970s will be a star guest.
The dog belonged to THS member Carol Chamberlain who died earlier this year. Carol’s son has haemophilia and she was a long-standing supporter of our charity. Her wish was that the dog would raise money for THS before eventually returning to Graceland, Elvis’ former home.
Unfortunately the dog was looking a bit shabby, so Carol’s friends arranged for him to feature on the Repair Shop this summer (episode 21, series 14) where the team worked their magic and gave Hezekiah a new lease of life.
Carol’s friends now take the dog to Elvis events to raise money for THS and will be bringing Hezekiah to our BGT on 22 November so that more people in the bleeding disorders community you can meet him and be part of this fantastic story.
Book your place at BGT and meet Hezekiah in the flesh (well… stuffing) here
