New infected blood compensations scheme opens

Written by Sam Wilson, October 9, 2025

Registration has opened for anyone who believes they are eligible for infected blood compensation.

The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA), which administers compensation payments, has set up a registration scheme for anyone infected and affected by contaminated blood and blood products.

The form does not ask for any evidence regarding your claim. At this stage you register your personal contact details plus details of why you are eligible to make a claim. If it relates to someone who has already made a claim (ie someone infected) it would be useful, but not essential, to know their IBCA claim number. At a later date you will be contacted to verify your identity, but there is currently no timeline for when this will happen or when your claim might be processed.

You are eligible to claim compensation if:

You were directly or indirectly infected with HIV and/or hepatitis B, hepatitis C, through the transmission of NHS-supplied blood, blood products or tissue.

You are related to an eligible infected person, e.g. siblings, parents and children. The infected person may be alive or deceased.

If you have any questions about the form, contact IBCA on 0141 726 2397 or [email protected].
