Little Bleeders
Empowering young people through sport and movement
We’re proud to partner with Little Bleeders, a UK charity helping children and young people with bleeding disorders live active, healthy lives. Founded by professional cyclist Alex Dowsett, who has severe haemophilia A, the charity works to break down barriers and prove that a diagnosis doesn’t have to mean missing out.

The Little Bleeders Sports Grants programme provides practical support for young people across the UK.
They help families cover the costs of:
✅ Sports equipment – from football boots to swimming kits
✅ Club memberships and coaching – helping children join their local teams or develop their skills
✅ Specialist support – ensuring young athletes can take part safely and confidently
By supporting access to sport, we’re helping children build strength, independence and self-esteem – vital qualities for managing their condition and enjoying life to the full.
Why Sport Matters
For young people with bleeding disorders, staying active isn’t just about having fun – it’s an essential part of living well. Regular physical activity helps:

🦵 Strengthen joints and muscles
Bleeding disorders can put joints at risk of damage, especially after bleeds. Building muscle through regular movement helps protect joints, improve stability, and reduce the likelihood of injuries in everyday life.
❤ Improve overall health
Exercise boosts cardiovascular fitness and helps maintain a healthy weight – both important for reducing strain on joints and improving energy levels.
🧠 Support mental wellbeing
Sport is also a powerful tool for mental health. It encourages confidence, independence, and resilience. Being part of a team or a club can help children feel included and connected, reducing feelings of isolation that some young people with bleeding disorders may experience.
🤝 Encourage safe and active lifestyles
With the right support and advice, most children with bleeding disorders can take part in a wide range of sports. Whether it’s swimming, cycling, football, or dance, finding the right activity empowers young people to manage their condition proactively while enjoying the same opportunities as their peers.

Alex Dowsett
Alex Dowsett founded Little Bleeders after becoming the only known elite cyclist competing with haemophilia. His journey shows what’s possible with the right support – and he’s passionate about helping others follow their dreams.
