Compensation survey – the results
Written by Jessica Bomford, December 9, 2021
The results of our survey on compensation for those infected and affected by contaminated blood and blood products have now been analysed. We are really grateful to the 405 people who took the time to complete the questions and, in many cases, make additional comments.
The survey was part of a consultation exercise in preparation for our submission to Sir Robert Francis QC, who is leading the Infected Blood Compensation Framework Study. We have used the survey, along with conversations and communications we’ve received from our members, to better understand your views on this highly complex and emotive subject.
Read the survey results here. We regret we cannot publish the individual comments made in the survey as, in some cases, these could have identified the person involved. The survey will be submitted in its entirety to Sir Robert, with the context that those responding are not exclusively from the infected, haemophilia community, but also include the affected and people infected as a result of blood transfusion.
Sir Robert will present his study to the government in March 2022 and will give evidence to the inquiry sometime next year on his findings. We don’t yet know when his study will be published.
