Healthcare at Home – product recall statement
Written by Aaron Dennis, April 1, 2021
Healthcare at Home have been advised by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) that the sterility of some infusion devices and ancillary products supplied to some patients cannot be guaranteed due to quality issues.
Healthcare at Home have been informed that the manufacturer of these products is recalling them and will need to supply patients with alternatives.
If you are a patient who is currently supplied with one or more of the products affected by this recall, a letter will be sent to inform you of the steps that need to be taken.
It is very important to note that there have been no safety issues identified relating to these products and treatments can be administered with the current products until alternatives are supplied by Healthcare at Home.
Healthcare at Home has identified and purchased replacement products, and patients will be receiving these in the coming weeks. They will also contact patients to arrange delivery of these and collection of any current items in the coming weeks.
Haemophilia centres have been consulted and agree with the replacement action. While the packaging and product may look different, they will work the same way as current supplies. As such, there is no need for any training on these new products.
If you have any of recalled items, please discontinue using them once your replacements have been received and return the recalled product with your next delivery.
If you do have any questions on the supply of replacement or about how to use it, please contact Healthcare at Home on the usual contact telephone number.
For any clinical queries or concern relating to the recall, please get in touch with your clinical team at your heamophilia centre.
