Natalie Lawson

Medical Trustee

I qualified as a paediatric nurse in 1992,  training at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I moved back to my hometown of Birmingham in 1997 and have worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital since January 1997. After many years working in surgery, I finally found my way to haematology in 2000, and specifically to haemophilia and bleeding disorders almost 10 years ago.

It’s a specialty I love, watching families go from newly diagnosed novices to experts in their child’s condition, and find great satisfaction in supporting parents, carers and patients to administer treatment at home.

It is a privilege to watch children grow and develop from babies to teenagers, and to be part of their journey of living with a bleeding disorder.

I enjoy teaching and have attended the newly diagnosed families’ weekends as well as the summer camp in 2021. I look forward to attending more events, meeting more members and being able to share my knowledge and make a difference in people’s lives.
