This week Lord (Kenneth) Clarke, former health secretary, gave three days of evidence to the Infected Blood Inquiry.
Lord Clarke, who was health minister from 1982-1985 and health secretary from 1988-1990, was asked about government advice in 1983-1985 as the AIDS crisis emerged. He was also asked about the government’s stance on the HIV litigation case in 1989-90 and what he knew about the Department of Health’s testing policy for hepatitis C.
