Scope of compensation review – the Haemophilia Society’s response

After consultation with its members, The Haemophilia Society has submitted its views on what the scope of the independent review of compensation schemes should include.

In a joint letter to Sir Robert Francis, who is carrying out the compensation review, CEO Kate Burt and chair Clive Smith outline the areas this charity believes should be covered by his study. You can read the letter in full here.

Sir Robert was appointed by the Paymaster General, Penny Mordaunt MP, earlier this year to carry out the review and is due to report back to her in February 2022, having consulted widely with those infected and affected by the contaminated blood scandal. He will also look at compensation schemes in other countries, including Ireland. The Infected Blood Inquiry has said Sir Robert will be asked to give evidence about his findings.
