Haemophilia centre will return to its original base at the Royal Victoria Infirmary
We recently wrote to The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of our members about the apparent decision to permanently move the haemophilia centre from the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
We have now received correspondence from the Trust and are pleased to confirm that the Haemophilia centre will return to its original base at the RVI, and they are aiming for this to be in place by early 2021.
In the meantime, services for adult patients with haemophilia or other clotting disorders will be based in the Ambulatory Care Unit at the RVI, very close to the previous unit.
Services for children will be provided from the Great North Childrens Hospital, which provides an age-appropriate environment for children and young people.
This is welcome news for those patients affected.
