Virtual Prudential RideLondon

In a parallel world, the eighth edition of Prudential RideLondon would be fast approaching. The event – the world’s greatest festival of cycling – was due to take place on the weekend of 15 and 16 August but, as I am sure you understand, has not been able to go ahead in its traditional form this year. This has been very disappointing as we rely on this event to raise crucial funds for our bleeding community.
But we have some good news: as many other mass participation events are choosing to still go ahead this year in a virtual form, Prudential RideLondon decided to do the same.
We’re celebrating the original August event weekend with My Prudential RideLondon: a free fundraising challenge that gives people the opportunity to get on their bikes – or scooters, skateboards, trikes, tandems, penny farthings, unicycles – and raise money for our charity.
You can decide on four challenges based on the traditional Prudential RideLondon weekend event distances: 100, 46 or 19 miles, or set you own challenge with My Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle (minimum 1km)
When is the event taking place?
You can complete the distance on your own route or on a static bike, in your own time. The main virtual event will happen on Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August.
How do I sign up?
– Send us an email at [email protected] for additional information and to register.
There is no registration fee, but if you raise £200 or over you will receive a prize!
What will I receive?
When you register we will send you a welcome letter, a sponsorship form, online fundraising tips and instructions on how to set up a successful fundraising page.
Once you have completed your ride you will be able to download a personalised certificate, selfie frames so you can create your own finisher photos, and crucially, you will have raised vital funds for The Haemophilia Society.
You will also be able to download the My Prudential RideLondon app, which will allow you to virtually compare your My Prudential RideLondon route to the world-famous Prudential RideLondon routes.
So, if you choose to ride the 100 miles, you may be taking part in Southampton, Birmingham or Newcastle, but the app will show your ride as if it was on the Prudential RideLondon route. Imagine the final 100m back to your home turned into the final 100m down the iconic finish stretch of The Mall!
In addition, your supporters can view your progress remotely during your ride and sponsor you via the app, making it even easier for them to donate to our charity.
The app will then be available to download in the week before the event.
Help us and members of our community through these uncertain times, sign up today and encourage your friends and family to join you at this exciting new virtual race.
