If you or your child have a bleeding disorder, the government’s blue badge scheme can help you to park closer to where you need to get to and reduce otherwise hefty parking costs.
- If your child is under 3 years old and has a bleeding disorder you may be eligible for a Blue Badge because:
(Your child)… must always be kept near a motor vehicle so that, if necessary, treatment can be given in the vehicle or the child can be taken quickly in the vehicle to a place where such treatment can be given.
(Reg 3(b) Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations)
- If your child is aged 3 or older you will only be able to get a Blue Badge if they already receive the higher rate of Mobility Component as part of their Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
- Adults can apply for a Blue Badge if they already receive the higher rate of Mobility Component as part of their Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
If you are applying on behalf of a child under three, you will need to choose ‘None of the above apply’ on the first page of the eligibility options then click ‘Next’. On the second page you should choose ‘I am under the age of three and have a medical condition that means I must always be kept near a vehicle in case I need emergency medical treatment’.
